Contest Application Information Teachers may enter their class video projects in RisingStar31’s Academy Awards contests and/or submit a student nomination for the Poetry In Motion ‘Junior’ Contest by registering with Submittable, our online contest processing company.
Each participant must be listed, and each participant must sign a Release Form, including actors, editors, camera operators, and people appearing in crowd shots. For students under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must complete the Release Form prior to the initial application process. Each applicant should keep these forms in their files. In the event that a class is selected for the group of finalists, these forms will be required for submission.
Each video submission should be no more than three minutes, and be saved in one of the following formats: WMV, MOV or AVI. Video entries should be recorded and registered on YouTube. When registering, make sure to select the "Unlisted" option to store your video. You will need to provide the YouTube URL assigned to your video with your entry information. *To read YouTube's directions on storing "Unlisted" videos, click HERE.
There is a $10.00 Processing Fee for each video contest. The Processing Fee for entering the Poetry In Motion Contest is $5.00 per nomination. Submittable is equipped to handle all major credit card and PayPal transactions.

By completing this information and registering to enter our contest, you've agreed to the Release Form requirements and to comply with all of the guidelines and official rules of the contest.

Rules & Guidelines • The RisingStar31 Academy Awards Competitions and Poetry In Motion Contest are open to Teachers in the United States who are employed in public, private and charter schools. • Teachers may register (on behalf of their participating students) for the RisingStar31 Academy Awards Competitions or nominate students for the Poetry In Motion Contest. • All contests open at 9:00 a.m., on October 1, 2012 and end at 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2013. All winners will be announced during the last week of June 2013. • All applications must be written in English. • Music used in contests (other than Best Videotaped Musical Scene) must be original or acquired from a site which offers royalty free or non-copyrighted music. • Videos must be recorded and registered with YouTube prior to entering the contest. Original videos should be saved in the following formats: WMV, MOV and AVI. • Videos must be in good taste and may not contain any profanity, nudity or indecent content. • Videos may be completed on or off the school campus. • All video entries must be the original work of the registering teacher’s classroom. • Release Forms must be completed by anyone who works and/or appears in the video production. Release forms must be signed by parents/guardians of participants who are minors (under the age of 18). • Opening and closing credits must mention that the contest is sponsored by RisingStar31 Productions. • Video entries must not contain anything (clothing, props or signs) which infringe on any copyrights, trademarks, logos, or marks that identify a brand (like Coke, Pepsi or restaurant signs).
For Entrants of the Risingstar31 Academy Award for Best Videotaped Musical Scene: • All entrants for the Academy Award for Best Videotaped Musical Scene are granted a limited, non-exclusive, one-time use license to utilize text and dialogue from the book, A Detour to Mexico. Entrants will, in no case, receive any right or license to use such text except as used in the Entry Video submitted to Sponsor, and such Entry Video (including any copyrights) shall become the sole property of Sponsor. • Entrants for the Academy Award for Best Videotaped Musical Scene must use the following title, “A Detour to Mexico; ___________” followed by the subtitle of their choice. • All music must be original, when applying for the Academy Award for Best Videotaped Musical Scene.
